Back in November, I received an email from a Mr. Richard Kaczynski. He was wondering if he could use a couple photos from my Roswell trip from 2009 (has it really been 6 years??) in a book he planned on publishing in early 2015. I told him sure. I was actually happy that he contacted and asked for permission since we now live in a world where people think it’s okay just to take something they see online and use it without asking. So, yeah, Kaczynski is a-okay in my book and I was happy to provide the pictures.
As it goes, I immediately forgot about the whole thing until two days ago when a package arrived in my mailbox. When I opened it and found a book inside, I figured it was something to review for HorrorTalk as it’s not uncommon to get random media for the site. However, when I read the author’s name, the email conversation came back to me. Not at once, mind you. It was more of a, “Kaczynski…Kaczynski…this isn’t for the site. This is something else. I didn’t order this…this isn’t Kickstarter or Indiegogo [I do those often]…what the hell is this? Wait, is this that guy that wanted to use my pictures?” That’s pretty much how it went down in my head. You’re welcome for that little peek.
Anywho, I flipped through the pages, and sure enough I found the pictures he used. He also signed it for me:
With thanks for letting me use two of your Roswell photos. Much appreciated!
That’s pretty damn cool. What a class act this guy is.
Go buy his book, The Billionth Monkey:

(If you can’t see the above pictures, for the love God, kill you ad block. There are no popups on this site, and I like using this Amazon plugin. That said, click here to get the book!)
